If there is one thing that Tuesday night's Democrat debate showed us—as if we didn't know it in the first place—it's just to what degree the media is in the tank for the Democrats.

They're not only in the tank—they built it, filled it with water up to the brim, and would turn up the temperature to boil Donald Trump alive if they could. And maybe they can.

You knew this from the outset when CNN's lead moderator Anderson Cooper, along with his compatriots, one from the New York Times, opened the festivities with a round of leading impeachment questions, giving each candidate in turn a chance to outdo each other in bashing Trump. Only Tulsi Gabbard equivocated slightly.

It went downhill from there.

For conservatives who watched the Democrat debate, it was like visiting Earth-2, as Drunkblogger Stephen Green so cleverly put it.  Conservatives probably could not endure these debates without Stephen Green's infusion of both facts and humor.

Each of those candidates on the stage seemed oblivious to the reality of the last three years — the fabulous economy, lowest unemployment in decades, international trade renegotiated to our benefit, millions no longer on food stamps.

Our military, eviscerated by Obama, is being repaired.  Manufacturing has been revitalized, and the border, despite the intransigence of the Democrats, is slowly being better controlled.  The wall is being built.

The Democrats are losing.  Trump and his supporters are winning.  As others have observed, the Left plays checkers while Trump plays 4-D chess.  He is way ahead of his opponents on every level, every issue.   And boy, was that apparent at that Dem debate last night.

Last week The Washington Post revealed the alarming news that House Democrats were considering having their anonymous “whistleblower” testify from a remote location, and in disguise.

Just as shocking as the details of this plan was the justification the Post ladled on this Democrat effort to hide impeachment information from the public.

It explained, high up in the story, that the cloak-and-dagger approach was merely Democrats expressing “distrust of their GOP colleagues, whom they see as fully invested in defending a president who has attacked the whistleblower’s credibility and demanded absolute loyalty from Republicans.”

This, from a newspaper with a tagline of “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

Maybe the better journalistic epitaph is: “Democracy Dies in Bias.” How did journalism get here?

President Trump has defended his shameful abandonment of our Kurdish allies in Syria, declaring that "I was elected on getting out of these ridiculous endless wars" that have left America "bogged down, watching over a quagmire."

Listening to the president, Americans might think that we still have large numbers of U.S. troops fighting on fronts across the Middle East. We do not.  In fact, we now have three times more troops deployed in Spain (3,200) than we do in Syria (1,000).

Trump likes to say he "defeated" the Islamic State. Actually, the bulk of the fighting was done by our Kurdish allies, trained and supported by U.S. Special Operations forces.

We are depending on the Kurds to keep the Islamic State down. But if we allow Turkey to wipe out our Kurdish allies, who will be left on the ground in Syria to fight the Islamic State?  Answer: No one.

The important news of the day--far beyond the inevitable tedious impeachment jousting--is that John Durham's investigation of the provenance of the FBI's counterintelligence investigation of possible Trump-Russia collusion has expanded, according to several administration officials.

Fox News previously reported that Durham would be reviewing the days leading up to the 2016 election and through the inauguration.

However, based on what he has been finding, Durham has expanded his investigation adding agents and resources, the senior administration officials said. The timeline has grown from the beginning of the probe through the election and now has included a post-election timeline through the spring of 2017, up to when Robert Mueller was named special counsel.

A blueprint for the deindustrialization of the U.S. is being revealed even now in (you guessed it) California.

Beginning early yesterday morning (10/09), a series of total power shutoffs by Pacific Gas & Electric began in every county of the Bay Area, along with a number of others to the north (the number of counties involved total 34).  The sole exception — as you might have guessed — is San Francisco.

The power cutoffs are complete, with no exceptions for hospitals, emergency services, phone networks, etc., the purpose being to eliminate all power flowing through overhead power lines in the affected areas in a clumsy, ill considered effort to prevent wildfires.

Vast areas of central California will be returned by fiat to the conditions of the 19th century.  Here’s why.

Strangest among all the many melodramas of the last two weeks were the blaring headlines that President Trump had dared to talk with the Australian Prime Minister—and referenced the role of foreign governments and in particular Australia in U.S. electoral politics in 2016.

Given the hue and cry of Democrats in the last three years, they should have been delighted that the president was peremptorily warning foreign nations to cease to currying favor with presidential candidates and asking them to hand over what information, if any, they had of past “collusion.”

In fact, they were outraged and once again returned to “collusion” charges, as if Trump were subverting the 2020 election.

Buried somewhere in recent impeachment reporting was the real news that federal prosecutors are conducting an international dragnet to find the perpetrators of the Russia hoax. Last week, the Justice Department issued a statement:

A team led by U.S. Attorney John Durham is separately exploring the extent to which a number of countries, including Ukraine, played a role in the counterintelligence investigation directed at the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.

It was later learned that Attorney General Barr was absent from Washington and could not answer questions because he was in Italy, where Josef Mifsud—the Western asset who plays a Russian collaborator in the Mueller Report—lives. Officials in the UK and Australia also have been contacted.

Obviously, the CIA is trying to get out ahead of its impending embarrassment by fabricating a scandal packaged as a whistleblower complaint suggesting, incredibly, that the president of the United States is not permitted to solicit foreign assistance in a criminal investigation.

Aside from the emotional issue that Democrats, NeverTrumpers, and celebrities loathe Donald Trump, recently Representative Al Green (D-Texas) reminded us why the Democrats are trying to impeach the president rather than just defeat him in the 2020 general election.

“To defeat him at the polls would do history a disservice, would do our nation a disservice,” Green said.  “I’m concerned that if we don’t impeach the president, he will get re-elected.”

Translated, that means Green accepts either that Trump’s record is too formidable or that the agendas of his own party’s presidential candidates are too frightening for the American people to elect one of them. And that possibility is simply not permissible.

Thus, impeachment is the only mechanism left to abort an eight-year Trump presidency—on a purely partisan vote to preclude an election, and thus contrary to the outlines of impeachment as set out by the Constitution.

The classic Western film High Noon, released in 1952, offers a compelling analogy to the Trump presidency.

Set in New Mexico territory sometime in the late 1800s, it starred Gary Cooper as Marshal Will Kane and Grace Kelly as Amy.  Her character is a Quaker.  She had seen her brothers and father die by gunfire, so she is a pacifist.  The two of them marry in the first moments of the film but then learn that a man the marshal had sentenced to hang, but was released by an early version of an Obama-appointed judge, is coming to their town with three henchmen to kill Kane.

But not one of the townsmen will agree to help.  They are all cowards (Republicans) in fear of their lives, or they are friends and admirers of the outlaw Frank Miller and want to welcome him back to the town (Democrats).  Bottom line?

The Reliant, an action film coming to select theaters on October 24, is not a typical faith-based film and the secular community is taking notice.

It was made apparent when the Motion Picture Association of America gave it an R rating. Although it had no foul language or sex scenes, and less violence than Disney movies given a PG-13 rating, the screenwriter and producer of the film, Dr. J. P. Johnston, had to appeal to the MPAA to get it changed.

The hate mail the producers have received and the trash articles written by those opposed to the film’s nod to the right-to-keep-and-bear-arms is a hint of the size of the stronghold The Reliant is trying to tackle. The entertainment site, AV Club, wrote a review with the title, Watch Kevin Sorbo Fight Antifa in This Bat@#$% Trailer.

When the mainstream “powers that be” come out in full force against a faith-based film, that’s when you know this movie is going to have real impact.

Hong Kong. Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People’s Republic of China from a podium overlooking Tiananmen Square 70 years ago today, October 1, 1949. This year’s celebrations, including in Hong Kong, were meant to pay tribute to Mao’s successor Xi Jinping.

But the people of Hong Kong have stood up. Millions have marched in protest of Beijing’s undemocratic control.  China is not as strong as it pretends. What the Communist Party calls its “socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics” has run its course.

On this 70th anniversary of communism’s ascendance in China, the irony is that the only legitimacy the Party has left comes from a growing economy. If China’s economy implodes, so does the regime’s legitimacy.

The China-U.S. trade war is an epochal event that can push China to the brink of collapse, especially if the U.S. links its values and human rights to its dealings with China.

Little notice has been given to a Justice Department press release issued the day the Trump-Zelensky conversation transcript became public.

That Justice Department statement makes explicit that the president never spoke with Attorney General William Barr “about having Ukraine investigate anything relating to former Vice President Biden or his son” or asked him to contact Ukraine “on this or any other matter,” and that the attorney general has not communicated at all with Ukraine.

It also contains the following morsel:

On Tuesday (9/24), Trump articulated to the UN General Assembly of world leaders the vision of the voters who elected him, speaking of nationalism, globalism, and socialism, along with an added rundown of problem nations to condemn and props for others.

It remains to be seen if the latest incarnation of Rambo will attract audiences.  Most of those who go to movie theaters these days are likely unfamiliar with all the earlier incarnations of Stallone's Rambo films.  The first was in 1982, First Blood.  It dealt, in exaggerated form, with the anger and resentment toward the returning vets from Vietnam.

The Left's intolerance for our military was as egregious then as it is now.  For inexplicable reasons, leftists loathe our first line of defense against our enemies, whom they always seem to revere or defend.  "It was ever thus," to quote Una Merkel in the original Parent Trap.

So for those of us who revere those who served, who gave their lives to defeat communism, First Blood was welcome revenge porn.  The young man being hunted by law enforcement was the good guy, trained by our own government.  Without cause, he was deemed an enemy of the people, which, of course he was not, in any way, shape, or form.  But he did know how to defend himself.  He had a particular set of skills.

In a Slate article -- "Democrat Candidates Are Misrepresenting Michael Brown's Death"-- the reliably-liberal William Saletan exposes their lies.

Let’s examine why the candidates are promulgating such a well-proven lie (Saletan does a good job demonstrating its extent), not even correcting it when confronted by the press, in Warren's case most egregiously so.

The obvious is that they are fishing for votes.  But beneath this are more disturbing beliefs, one of which is on the edge of disgusting and actually racist.  It is that African Americans prefer to be lied to than told the truth. The corollary to this is that they are easily lied to if you stir them up. The level of disrespect in this is off the charts.

A Canadian publication, The Star, has printed an unintentionally hilarious editorial, “Chick-fil-A Is Ideologically Opposed to My Existence,” by a very disgruntled LGBTQWTF writer, Andrew Wheeler (no relation whatever to Jack Wheeler!).

Mr. Wheeler is very upset. His outrage and dismay have been caused by your love of delicious chicken from Chick-fil-A. How dare you???  In his rant, Wheeler rails against the insensitivity of people who love chicken and waffle fries because it hurts his feelings, or something.

But his rant is more than laughable.  It contains the whole reason why the LGBTQWTF mafia is never going to win over rational people.

President Trump is waging a nonstop, all-encompassing war against progressive culture, in magnitude analogous to what 19th-century Germans once called a Kulturkampf (“culture struggle”).

As a result, not even former President George W. Bush has incurred the degree of hatred from the left that is now directed at President Trump. For most of his time in office, Mr. Trump, his family, his friends and his businesses have been investigated, probed, dissected and constantly attacked.

Certainly, Mr. Trump’s agenda of closing the border, using tariffs to overturn a half-century of Chinese mercantilism and pulling back from optional overseas military interventions variously offends both Democrats and establishment Republicans, aka RINOs.

Yet, the real source of Trump Derangement Syndrome – TDS – is his desire to wage a multifront pushback — politically, socially, economically and culturally — against what might be called the elite postmodern progressive world.  Let’s count the ways.

Rarely does a story implode as spectacularly as the New York Times’ latest effort to resurrect the claim that Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a teenage sexual predator.

By now, you know the facts: The Times published an excerpt from a forthcoming book alleging that another woman suffered the same form of abuse and objectification from Kavanaugh that was alleged by another accuser, Deborah Ramirez.

No sooner had the universe of liberal political observers and politicians worked themselves up into a frenzy than the story fell apart.

Ms. Ramirez herself doesn’t even remember the experience that was supposedly so traumatizing—a revelation that was inexplicably omitted from the Times’ original draft.  Inexplicably – yeah, right.

Google the phrase “Trump weariness” or “Trump exhaustion” and dozens of progressive articles pop up suggesting that Trump’s base is worn out by Trump’s antics.  Are Trump supporters then weary?  Are they tired of winning?

The August jobs report “unexpectedly” reminds us that never have so many Americans been at work. The 3.7 percent unemployment rate continues to be the lowest peacetime unemployment figure in 50 years. Black and Hispanic unemployment remain at record lows.

Workers’ wages continue to rise. Talk of recession is belied by low interest, low inflation, low unemployment, and a strong stock market. The result is that millions of Americans enjoy far better lives than they had in 2016.

Yes, that’s really exhausting, isn’t it?

Monaca, Pennsylvania -- All Darrin Kelly wanted for the energy workers in Western Pennsylvania was that the Democrat presidential hopefuls would talk to them before going to war against shale.

That opportunity slipped away when Elizabeth Warren joined Bernie Sanders in calling for a total fracking ban.

"On my first day as president, I will sign an executive order that puts a total moratorium on all new fossil fuel leases for drilling offshore and on public lands. And I will ban fracking -- everywhere," Warren tweeted on Sept. 6.

"The natural gas industry employs well over 40,000 people just in this region alone," Kelly said. "Countless more indirectly, providing economic opportunity for generations of families and communities that had been hollowed out by the demise of manufacturing and coal in this area."

Donald Trump won Pennsylvania with just over 40,000 votes in 2016.

In the swing state of North Carolina, it was happy-dance time for the beleaguered Republicans.  Two hotly contested congressional races both went solidly into the GOP camp, helping the Republicans in the crazies-run House.

State senator Dan Bishop won in the 9th District, and Greg Murphy won in the 3rd District, and both will now get the opportunity to tell Reps. Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that they are out to lunch.  It was a conservative blowout.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, the Hamas sympathizer, doesn’t even try to hide or camouflage her loyalty to the terror group and their supporters.

The climate cult has gotten out of hand.  It now threatens to prevail in politics by convincing the ignorant that the science is settled.

Anybody who has a basic understanding of the science knows that it is not settled.  A number of inconvenient facts seriously undermine the idea that catastrophic global warming caused by humans is about to overwhelm us.  Here are three of them:

1. Emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere are causing far less heating than the climate models have been predicting.
2. There is no scientifically reputable method for measuring the human contribution to carbon dioxide emissions relative to emissions from natural sources.
3. Measured sea level rise in recent decades is insufficient to account for the alarmist forecasts about the amount of rise by the end of the century.

As long as the general public is unaware of realities such as these, the cultists will continue to proselytize using emotional appeals about saving the world and moralistic shaming of any who disagree.

Most of the coverage of James Mattis’s new book, Call Sign Chaos, co-authored with Bing West, deals with the former defense secretary’s relationship with President Trump.

The Atlantic‘s pre-publication interview with Mattis was headlined, “The Man Who Couldn’t Take It Anymore.” The New York Times editorial page ran a column about Mattis called “The Man Trump Wishes He Were.”

Fake News Alert. Both articles establish that Mattis doesn’t have much to say right now, in either the book or in interviews, about President Trump. Neither article, though, mentions another president about whom Mattis is more than willing to dish.

Rather, the fresh celebrity “Squad” of newly elected identity-politics congresswomen – Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib –  often either claim to be socialists or embrace socialist ideas.

A recent Harris poll showed that about half of so-called millennials would like to live in a socialist country.

A disgraceful end for “deep state” actors and an implosion of the Democrat Party’s 2020 nominee are both very real possibilities.

It is now clearer than ever that the whole Trump-Russia collusion argument is such a monstrous hoax that it has been hard for the public to take it on board.

There is a small slice of the American populace who, by their own admission, are exhausted.

No, I do not refer to new moms caring for cranky infants or emergency room nurses working the night shift or tactical officers patrolling the ’hood or farmers plowing their soybean crops.

Our bone-weary countrymen populate opinion magazines, newsrooms, editorial boards, and cable networks up and down the Acela corridor. Cognitive fatigue has set in. Makeup artists in the MSNBC green room desperately try to conceal dark circles sagging under the eyes of barely-functioning hosts and guests.

Hatred is exhausting, mentally and physically.  Meanwhile, the object of their hatred hasn’t aged a day since taking office.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, public opinion polls may have reflected, however faintly, some generalization of public opinion.  For a multitude of reasons, that is no longer true.

Take the Quinnipiac poll results that whatever is left of Joe Biden would beat Trump 54 percent to 38 percent in a general election, and the Economist’s poll number asserting that 55 percent of the public thinks the country is headed in the wrong direction.  It is a certainty that none of those numbers reflects reality.

So, discarding the meaningless political polls, I went to the most accurate opinion poll I am aware of for my pre-quadrennial presidential forecast: the Washington County Agricultural Fair in Pennsylvania (the county is southwest of Pittsburgh bordering Ohio and the northern tip of West Virginia).
